In order to transmit a message, you need a common language. This will require an exchange of intelligent beings. Given the required investment, it's useless to communicate with anyone who is not supremely interested. This site rests on an unsound premise.

The problem isn't if or what to say, it's HOW.

1 They don't speak our languages.

2 We can't send a picture of an apple and say "apple". They don't have apples! The only comparative objects we have are atoms, molecules, celestial objects, etc.

3 They might see in infrared or even gamma rays. They might hear at frequencies tens of times higher or lower than us. Maybe they use telepathy? Smell? TASTE?

How can we decide what to say, if we don't even know how to say it in the first place?

We are a somewhat friendly people sometimes. I would like to take a ride in your spaceship around the galaxy and maybe the Universe some day.

We are not even a Type 1 civilization yet and so in order to receive your messages properly you will have to put them in simple radio wave form (at EM or light speed) for us to understand and interpret them from you.

This is a transmission from planet Earth. Hello Please don't eat us. We are a reasonably friendly people.
