"Hello."



The first step of any communication is acknowledgment. The handshake. If we receive an alien message they are essentially "pinging" and await a response.



If I met an alien in person I would say "hello" and wave, the first step. You have to be positive, assume the being are friendly. That's all you can really do. Reacting as though you know their intentions when you surely do not is most certainly a terrible mistake.

Now, let me explain that you and I are together. We are confused insomuch as we are knowledged. You have sought the truth, we have persued it as well; you are not nor are we right. Do we search the skies for eachother hopelessly? Hopelessly hoping across the universe that we might have some things to talk about beside the rising tides of time. We have long sought you, hopingly. Riders together not on "Earth", but certainly brothers in eternal cold. Let us break bread together, as one in all things.

I know we may look weird, but you seem weird to us. We can learn to get along. The road to planetary partnership may be bumpy, and minorities of both plants' citizens may object, but in the long run, it will be a beautiful friendship. With our joined economies, ideas, and inventions, we can live long a prosper together.

If you hear this, you are not alone. I look at the stars, and wonder if we will ever contact another intelligence. I question if you do the same. We worry about prolonging life and we question what our existence means. Are we a fortunate accident? Can the universe be so vast yet so empty? We have barely scratched the universe's surface. If you ask these questions, take comfort in knowing that you are not alone in uncertainty, and that one day we may meet and face the unknown of the universe together.

We are here, one of many species. The universe amazes us. We treasure life and dream big. We rose to become the dominant species on our home planet, but past mistakes keep hunting us. We still are imperfect and weak, but together we are strong and thrive to em-better ourselves through knowledge and love. We welcome your existence and even if by the time our message reaches us we went extinct, know that you were not alone as sentient beings and you should keep searching.
