"Hello."



The first step of any communication is acknowledgment. The handshake. If we receive an alien message they are essentially "pinging" and await a response.



If I met an alien in person I would say "hello" and wave, the first step. You have to be positive, assume the being are friendly. That's all you can really do. Reacting as though you know their intentions when you surely do not is most certainly a terrible mistake.



We're all children of the same universe.
